2019 Heritage Cup Classic Yacht Regatta

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Hempstead Harbour Club to Host 15th Annual Heritage Cup Classic Yacht Regatta

Hempstead Harbour Club, located in Glen Cove, NY, will be hosting the 15th Annual Heritage Cup Regatta and Rendezvous on Saturday, September 21, 2019. Part of the highly-regarded WoodenBoat Regatta Series and Western Long Island Sound series, the Heritage Cup Regatta draws classic wooden yachts from up and down the east coast to compete in an event celebrating the art of wooden boat building and classic yacht racing. Participating yachts include vessels built in the 1900s, 20s and 30s up through their more modern fiberglass counterparts. More modern vessels compete in a division separate from the traditional wooden yachts. “Hempstead Harbour Club is proud to once again host the Heritage Cup Regatta and Rendezvous. The event is a fitting salute to the Club’s rich history and to the sailing traditions of the last century,” said HHC Commodore Ronald Doering.

The Heritage Cup Regatta was founded by Captain Michael Emmert of Glen Head, NY. A portion of the proceeds from the event are generously donated by Captain Emmert to fund scholarships for Hempstead Harbour Club’s Summer Junior Sailing Program.

Hempstead Harbour Club is proud to once again host this year’s event on September 21st and has hosted the Heritage Cup Regatta each year since the inaugural event in 2005. Founded in 1891, the Hempstead Harbour Club is an historic landmark and hidden gem on Long Island Sound. Located at the end of Garvies Point Road in Glen Cove, the Club offers something for everyone: the avid sailor, the casual boater, water sports enthusiasts, and those just looking to take in the perfect sunset from the Club’s wraparound porch.
