Cruising or sailing for pleasure with or without a destination is what our club members know how to do. From overnights to long voyages, any given weekend you can find our fleet spread out throughout the Long Island Sound, up the Hudson River and out east at Block Island. Hempstead Harbour Club is the perfect place to start your trip, with easy and quick access in and out of the harbor, and more than 100 destinations within reach. Common destinations include Oyster Bay, Northport, Port Jefferson, Norwalk, Milford, Clinton, Guilford, the Connecticut River, Greenport, Shelter Island, and Block Island to name a few.
Experience cruising the Long Island Sound abounds within the club membership. If you’re hesitant to venture to a new destination, don’t know how to enter a port or just want to talk about your plans, you can always find members happy to help, provide guidance or just hear your stories.
If you’re interested in getting there fast while racing against other boats, consider participating in the Meecham Memorial Series of distance races. Visit the Racing section to find out more about this series with overnights at City Island and Oyster Bay.
Members are always planning new trips and looking for company (providing extra safety, opportunity to socialize, and potential to learn more about sailing and destinations). If you want to plan a club cruising event, look for company, promote your trip or just share your float plan, log in to the forums and post there.
